However, it could have revealed new details of his next film.
The 37-year-old actress stood out in dozens of series and movies throughout her career. But the arrival of Booksmart, his debut film, changed everything. Starring Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, the film presented the story of two nerdy friends who, days after graduating, discover that they could have had more fun throughout their adolescence. With this coming-of-age packed with comedy, it established itself as a critical favorite.
Thus began the production of Don’t Worry Darling, his next project that will star Florence Pugh y Harry Styles and that it hopes to have its premiere this year. But Olivia Wilde’s agenda is not empty, because she quickly became involved in another more than mysterious film in collaboration with Sony Pictures. Rumors suggest that it will be Spider-Woman, and that would come after the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Although not confirmed, his words in an interview made it clear that his intentions are about a female character. In dialogue with Entertainment Weekly, the director maintained: “I’m honored to be among this wave of women who are saying, ‘Not only are we going to step in and try to tell this story like men do, but we’re actually going to reframe the stories In themselves’”.
Olivia Wilde, in this sense, remarked: “The industry, from what I can tell, really supports that. There is a radical change and it is due to these decades of pioneers who demanded this again and again and finally broke through. I’m very fortunate to be there with it”. Her words raised suspicions again and all fan theories assure that she will be responsible for telling the story of Jessica Drew.
