Thus, and through the following video in which M. Night Shyamalan answers several key issues About Time, we discover new details of one of this summer’s thrillers and what makes it so haunting. “When developing the idea for the movie, I wondered if the audience would approve not have a physical villain. There is no velociraptor chasing them to devour them, but time. I wondered if the public would accept it as an existential threat. And the answer is yes. You feel it on your heels throughout the film, ”explains the filmmaker.
“I think it is a way of expressing our fear of death. When you were 13, did you think you were vulnerable? Not at all! At that age you think you will live forever. The perception of time is so slow that you feel that the 70 or 80 years that you still have left are, in reality, 4,000 years. But by speeding it up so much, you say to yourself, ‘My God, am I only left to live until dark?’ And all of a sudden it’s a terrifying experienceWhatever age you are, ”continues M. Night Shyamalan.
Regarding the particular filming of Time in full expansion of the global pandemic of the coronavirus at the beginning of 2020, the director explains: “It was a paradise, but it was also hellish. It was as if we were living the same as the characters. We were obviously isolated because we shot during the highest peak of the pandemic, so we couldn’t go anywhere. “
“We couldn’t leave the beach to visit the nearest town. We couldn’t do anything. The cast and I could only go back and forth to the hotel. We had that feeling of being trapped, albeit in a place of great beauty. That mixture of horror and beauty it is what makes Tiempo special to the public. It is a mix that you do not forget after seeing it ”, concludes M. Night Shyamalan.
Weather opens in theaters in Spain this Friday July 30, 2021.
