Charles III Honors Tina Turner with a Musical Tribute at Buckingham Palace

Charles III, the newly crowned monarch, honors the late Tina Turner with a musical tribute at Buckingham Palace. This tribute happened during the changing of the guard outside the Royal Resistance in London on Friday. Charles allowed the Band of the Welsh Guards to perform the 1989 hit “The Best” by the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The 1st Battalion of the Welsh Guards Drum Corps joined the Band of the Welsh Guards during the centenary ceremony. The King’s Guard handed over the responsibility of protecting Buckingham and St. James Palaces to the New Guard.

Charles and the late Tina Turner first met in 1986, when she performed at the Prince’s Trust All-Star Rock Concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Prince William and Princess Diana’s Connection to “The Best”

Prince William shared in the Apple Fitness+ series “Time to Talk” that his late mother, Princess Diana, would play “The Best” for him and his brother, Prince Harry, as they travelled back to boarding school.

Prince Charles, who was 15 when Diana died in a car accident in Paris in August 1997 at the age of 36, shared that the song “The Best” has a deep meaning to the royal family.

The Prince of Wales said: “One of the songs that I remember very much and has stuck with me all this time, and still, to this day To this day, I still secretly quite enjoy it’s -The Best- by Tina Turner because sitting in the back seat, singing, it felt like a real family moment.

“And my mother, she’d be driving, singing at the top of her lungs. We even put the policeman in the car: she occasionally sang too. We would be singing and listening to the music to the school gates where they dropped you off.”

William added: “When I listen to it now, it takes me back to those car rides and brings back so many memories of my mother.”
