American actor Tom Cruise recently made a surprise appearance during the celebrations for the coronation of King Charles III of England. Through a video segment dedicated to his facet as an aeronautical pilot, Tom showed his skills as a pilot and said from his cockpit, “Pilot to pilot, Your Majesty, he can be my wingman anytime.”
Tom Cruise’s closeness to the royal family extends beyond the pilot wings he shares with Charles and Prince William. In fact, Tom Cruise reportedly forged a friendship with Princess Diana during the early 1990s, and the friendship intensified soon after when Cruise reportedly invited the couple to see a preview of the film at a Leicester Square cinema. The Hollywood star would also have forged a close relationship with Prince William and Kate, being the guests of honor at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London.
Furthermore, the friendship between the actor and the royal family intensified when Cruise reportedly invited Queen Elizabeth II for tea and enjoy a special tour of Windsor Castle. The monarch would have been disappointed at not being able to greet him in person during the Platinum Jubilee, so she invited him to have tea and enjoy a special tour of Windsor Castle. They planned to meet again over lunch, but unfortunately the queen died before they could meet again.
It is evident that Tom Cruise has been spending time in England for several years as a result of the consecutive shootings of Mission Impossible 7 and 8, which would allow him to be closer to the British royal family. His closeness to the family extends beyond his pilot wings and can be seen through the different anecdotes and events that have taken place in the past.
