We recently echoed statements by Tom Holland in which he apparently commented that he did not see himself playing Spider-Man beyond the age of 30, assuring that if so, “something would be wrong.” Now, the actor himself has clarified these statements in a recent interview about Spider-Man No Way Home, explaining that his words were taken out of context and that they misunderstood his real message.
New Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland
Thus, and through Extra TV, the actor has qualified his words: “This is a perfect example of how everything that is always said it is misunderstood and nobody tells the truth. I don’t know what the future of Spider-Man will be like. I don’t know if I’m going to be part of it. Spider-Man will always live in me, and I know Amy and the studio are looking forward to finding out what the next chapter of Spider-Man will look like. If that happens to me, then it will be very exciting; but if it is time to walk away, then I will do it with pride, “says the actor.
“What I was referring to in that interview where I said ‘if I’m playing Spider-Man when I’m 30, I must have done something wrong,’ is because I’d be taking the opportunity for someone to come and change what it means to be spider-man. Spider-Man could be more diverse, it could be a female character, could be anything. So that’s what I was saying, and thanks to that journalist for changing that, I appreciate it very much ”, Holland concludes, not without a certain irony in his words.
So much so, that the actor then assures that he would be delighted to see other Spider-Man movies with other characters such as Miles Morales, Silk The Jackpot, for example.
Spider-Man No Way Home the next one opens in theaters December 16, 2021.
