Despite the high cost of living, the state of California offers various benefits to its residents. According to a Bloomberg analysis, the Sunshine State has the fastest growing labor force, gross domestic product, manufacturing industry, and median household income in the country. California also has the largest civilian workforce in the country, led by the agriculture, health care, tourism, manufacturing, and technology sectors.

According to an analysis by Best Colleges, based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), these are the 10 fastest growing professions in California from 2023 to 2028:

- Occupational Therapy Assistants: 65.4% growth rate. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $73,930.
- Statisticians: 40.7% Growth Rate. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $112,050.
- Physician Assistants: 34,050 growth rate. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $135,180.
- Information Security Analysts: 32.7% Growth Rate. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $125,990.
- Personal Care Assistants: Rate of 32.1% growth. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $31,270.
- Nurse Anesthetists: 30.8% growth rate. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $205,360.
- Nurse Practitioners: Growth Rate of 30.5%. Median Annual Salary (as of May 2020): $145,970.
