Travel agencies applaud accounting moratorium to 2023 and 2024

The National Union of Travel Agencies (UNAV), an entity that represents 123 companies and 3,370 points of sale in Spain, has applauded the two-year accounting moratorium (2023 and 2024) announced last Friday by the Government after the sectoral demands of other associations and the CEOE employers.

Recently, the dean association of travel agencies in Spain had warned by letter to the first vice president and minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, of the economic damage and destruction of business fabric and jobs that could generate that the Executive refused this extension.

In this letter, its president, José Luis Méndez, acknowledges that the implementation of this measure in the covid crisis was “key to guaranteeing the viability of many companies”.

The President of the Union also stated in his communication to Vice-President Calviño that “unfortunately, the financial difficulties derived from the pandemic have not yet been overcome, and although the situation has improved, in many cases it has still been impossible to restore the patrimonial balance of the agencies”.
