Trump Claims Jewish Voters Will Share Blame if He Loses Election

Donald Trump has indicated that Jewish voters may share some of the responsibility if he loses the 2024 presidential election, expressing his frustration over their support levels. Speaking at two separate events in Washington, D.C., the former president made claims about his backing from American Jewish voters, asserting that he enjoys support from 40 percent of them.

During his remarks at a summit focusing on antisemitism and the Israeli-American Council, Trump stated, “If I don’t win this election, and the Jewish people would really have a lot to do with that if that happens, because at 40 percent, that means 60 percent of the people are voting for the enemy.” His audience comprised prominent Jewish Republicans who gathered to discuss issues pertinent to their community.

Recent research, however, suggests a stark difference in the voting preferences among Jewish voters. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 65 percent of Jewish voters support Vice President Kamala Harris for president, compared to 34 percent who back Trump.

Trump lamented that many Jewish Americans are leaning toward Harris, claiming that Democrats have placed a “curse” on Jewish voters. “That means you’ve got 60 percent voting for somebody that hates Israel. And I say it — it’s going to happen — it’s only because of the Democrat hold or curse on you,” Trump asserted. He emphasized that “Forty percent is not acceptable, because we have an election to win.”

He further stated, “I will put it to you very simply and gently: I really haven’t been treated right, but you haven’t been treated right, because you’re putting yourself in great danger.” Trump declared that during his presidency, he was “the best president for Israel by far” and warned that Israel might face “total annihilation” if Harris were to win the election, adding, “Rockets will rain down from above until the Iron Dome has been exhausted.”

Throughout both events, Trump made scathing criticisms of Harris and President Joe Biden. He accused the current administration of mishandling the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and failing to address the surge of pro-Palestinian demonstrations at college campuses.

“Kamala Harris has done absolutely nothing. She has not lifted a single finger to protect you or to protect your children,” Trump claimed. He expressed his belief that he is the one truly safeguarding Jewish interests, stating, “These are the people who are going to destroy you, and you have 60 percent of Jewish people essentially voting for that.”

Trump went so far as to accuse Harris, whose husband Doug Emhoff is Jewish, of harboring “anti-Israel” and “anti-Jewish” sentiments. He concluded his remarks with a dire warning: “I believe that Israel will be wiped off the face of the Earth if I don’t win.”

During his presidency, Trump’s administration took several significant actions concerning Israel, including recognizing Jerusalem as its capital, formally acknowledging Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal. Additionally, Trump’s administration facilitated the Abraham Accords, paving the way for the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to normalize relations with Israel.
