Unemployment in Japan rose to 3% in May

Tokyo, Jun 29 (EFE) .- The unemployment rate in Japan stood at 3% in May, which represents an increase of two tenths compared to the previous month, the Japanese Executive reported on Tuesday.

According to data published today by the Ministry of the Interior and Communications, the number of unemployed in Japan in the fifth month of 2021 was 2.11 million people, representing a year-on-year increase of 130,000 people or 6.6%.

Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed people increased by 20,000 people, or 1%.

The number of people with work in the Asian country last month stood at 66.67 million, 110,000 more individuals or an increase of 0.2% than in the same month of 2020.

Compared to the previous month, people in employment in Japan increased by 100,000 people, or 0.15%.

The number of jobs available for every 100 job seekers in Japan was 109, the same as a month earlier.

Unemployment figures in Japan have increased since the start of the pandemic, which has caused the destruction of numerous temporary jobs and especially in the service sector, the most affected by the restrictions that the third world economy still applies to contain to the virus.
