United and Arsenal win by the minimum and Real Sociedad secures the classification

Scott McTominay’s last-gasp goal helped Manchester United beat Omonia Nicosia 1-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Arsenal also won 1-0 at Bodo/Glimt, Bukayo Saka scoring, earning their third successive Europa League win and taking another step towards securing top spot in Group A.

United took 34 shots and dominated possession of the ball in the Group E match but narrowly took the points.

In their other group game, Real Sociedad became the second Spanish LaLiga team to secure a place in the top two of the group, after goals from Alexander Sorloth, Diego Rico and substitute Roberto Navarro secured a 3-0 win at home against Sheriff.

Real Betis, Fenerbahçe, Rennes and Freiburg sealed a place in the top two early on Thursday, which guarantees a place in the knockout rounds.

Betis, in Group C, drew with AS Roma (1-1) after Sergio Canales’ goal was countered by Andrea Belotti, but it was enough for the LaLiga team to secure a position in the top two.
