US B-52 bombers have attacked a Taliban gathering in the city of Sheberghan, capital of Jauzjan province, confirmed Fawad Aman, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense.
MailOnline reported Saturday that US President Joe Biden has ordered B-52 bombers and AC-130 Specter heavy attack aircraft to attack Taliban positions in Afghanistan, which are advancing on key cities.
The strategic city of Sheberghan fell to the Taliban after a week of fighting, sources confirmed. Meanwhile, Afghan security forces and the Taliban are waging fierce fighting in the capitals of Qunduz, Tajar and Badakhshan provinces in the north of the South Asian country.
Sheberghan is the second provincial capital to fall to the Taliban in the past two days. In this context, Jauzján legislators blamed the government for the lack of attention to the security situation in the province.
More information, shortly.
