VIDEO: A security guard assaults a trans woman in a Barcelona train station

A security agent of the railway operator Renfe attacked a trans woman this Friday at the Sants station, in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain), as seen in a video published on social networks by local media.

In the recording it is observed how a guard approaches from behind the victim, who is not wearing a shirt, and, although offers no resistance, reduces it with the help of two other companions, who hold it by both arms. Already on the ground, you can hear how he cries.

It is then that one of the security agents involved punches him three hard times, which provokes the outrage of the witnesses. “Look what he’s done to me!” The man yells at them, showing them one of his arms. After this, he gets up, kicks him in the leg and walks away from the place.

Antonio Carmona, Renfe spokesman, announced that the guard was expelled minutes after the incident, detailing that an information file has been opened. “The necessary measures will be taken,” he added.

What happened?

Apparently, it all started when the girl felt uncomfortable due to the presence of a television camera, so she rebuked the operator who was carrying her so that he would not record her. At that moment, the private security agents of the Sureste company approached to speak with them.

But started a discussion and one of the guards would have turned out injured with an object, although it is not specified which one. In fact, it is reported that it would be the same person who allegedly later hit the victim while on the ground.

The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Autonomous Police) have opened an investigation into the case and are waiting to take a statement from the woman, who had to be transferred to the hospital. For his part, Marc Serra Solé, Councilor for Citizen Rights and Participation of the Sants-Montjuïc neighborhood, has ticked the aggression of transphobia, lamenting that the guards shouted “shut up sir”.
