The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, encouraged a 10-year-old girl to remove her mask during an official ceremony this Thursday in the municipality of Jucurutu, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, and when the minor listened to him, He gave a thumbs up in approval.
Those who did not approve of Bolsonaro’s attitude were many Brazilians who criticized him for rejecting personal protection measures in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, in a country that has already exceeded 500,000 deaths from coronavirus. In addition, during the same day the Brazilian president lowered the mask to a small child when greeting his supporters.
- The use of masks is mandatory in Rio Grande do Norte since May 2020 as a measure to prevent contagion. The state decree, however, does not establish a fine.
