Washington, Aug 5 (EFE) .- The weekly number of applications for unemployment benefit in the United States fell last week to 385,000, compared to 399,000 the previous week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS, in English) reported today. ).

The average number of requests in four weeks was 394,000, compared to the average of 394,250 the previous week.

According to BLS, in the week ending July 24 there were 2.93 million people receiving this aid, compared to 3.29 million the previous week.

The average number of applications for this subsidy was about 205,000 a week before the pandemic and rose to an unprecedented 6.8 million in the last week of March 2020.

Since then it has been declining and last week was the second in which the figure has been below 400,000 since the beginning of July.

Likewise, the week that ended on July 24 was the first since the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, in which the number of beneficiaries of the benefit fell below 3 million.
