Based on the novels of the same name by Robyn Carr, A place to dream reaped great success since its premiere on Netflix. Although, the largest number of fans of the series came when, in November 2020, the platform added the second season to its catalog and, the fury was such that this has led to a renewal by a third part.
Full of love and tenderness, A place to dream tells the story of Mel, a nurse who decides to leave her life in the big city behind to forget her past and moves to a small town called Virgin River. That’s where she meets who her great love, the bartender Jack, will become and who convinces her to call this new neighborhood home.
This journey of twists and turns through love, pain, friendship and recovery is also combined with fascinating landscapes full of mountains and forests. And, given the beauty of this place, many of the fans of the series wonder if it really exists or, in fact, if you can go to visit and, although it does exist, it should be noted that it does not have the same name as in the series nor is it located where the fiction says.
According to the story, Virgin River is presented as a small town in Northern California and is surrounded by redwoods, waterfalls and where there is very good fishing. But, the true landscapes of this drama correspond to Vancouver, Canada and its surroundings, an area that is better known as British Columbia.
However, it must be clarified that some of the exteriors of A place to dream They are filmed on Bowen Island, a small island in the Canadian city that can only be reached by boat or seaplane. And, as it happened in series like Outlander, the fury of this romantic strip made Vancouver a point of tourist interest to the point that the city offers an itinerary to visit the iconic places of fiction.
