Several entities in the United States continue to send checks or tax refunds to help their residents. In this article, we will share with you the states that send money in June and explain how to request payments of more than $1,000 dollars.
California
Residents of Los Angeles County, California, may be eligible for monthly payments of $1,000 for two years through a Guaranteed Income Program run under the Breathe name. The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be a resident of Los Angeles County
- Be at least 21 years old, but be under 24 as of September 1, 2023
- Have been in foster care until age 18
- Have an income equal to or less than 100% area median income for a one person household or 120% for a two or more person household.
- Having been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications can be made electronically through the Breathe Program website from June 20 to July 3. Only 200 people will be chosen.
North Carolina
Residents of the city of Greensboro, North Carolina may be eligible for the Low Income Homeowner Assistance Program. If eligible, your household will receive a check for the difference between city property taxes paid in 2021 compared to what was paid in tax year 2022. Colorado
Each year, the City of Boulder, Colorado provides rebates to help lower-income community members pay for groceries. For 2023, rebates are $99 for individuals and $302 for families. To be eligible, applicants must complete an application and meet financial eligibility guidelines (income less than $43,900 for individual filers and up to $62,700 for individual filers of a family), plus you have resided in Boulder for the entire calendar year 2022 and:
- Have been 62 years of age or older for the entire calendar year 2022
- Be a person with a disability
- Be a family with children under the age of 18 in the home for the entire calendar year 2022
The application period began on March 1st. Application forms must be received or postmarked by June 30. Applications and more information about the program can be found on the city’s website.
On the other hand, the state of Colorado has property tax refunds/rent/heating credit (PTC). The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Have lived in Colorado from January 1 to December 31, 2022
- Have an income of less than $16,925 for single taxpayers and $22,858 for married filing jointly.
- As of December 31, 2022, be age 65 or older, have a surviving spouse age 58 or older, and be a disabled person of any age who has qualified for full benefits from January 1 to December 31, 2022 from any public or private plan or source based solely on your disability.
- Have paid property taxes, rent, or heating bills
- Not be claimed as a dependent
The refund amount can be up to $1,044 a year for applicants, and if you apply in 2023, you could receive a refundable tax credit of up to $1,000. For more information and to view the payment schedule, visit the program’s web portal.
Massachusetts
Taxpayers are eligible to receive a refund of approximately 14% of their state tax liability. People who file their 2021 return before September 15, 2023, will receive the payment one month after filing. If you filed your return in May, you will receive your payment in June. New Mexico
Residents of the state will receive a refund of $500 for single taxpayers and $1,000 for joint taxpayers. Payments will begin mailing out in the middle of this month to eligible residents who filed their 2021 income taxes. Taxpayers have until May 31, 2024 to file their return and be eligible for a refund.
Pennsylvania
The state has an account with the Rent/Property Tax Refund Program, which benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers over 50 years of age; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters, excluding half of Social Security income. The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualified homeowners can increase rebates to $975. Program applications will be accepted through June 30.
