Who are the Eternals? Abilities and characters confirmed in the movie

The Eternals are a race of immortal beings incapable of aging that inhabited Earth to protect humans from Deviants more than 7,000 years ago. Unlike traditional humans, the Eternals have genetics modified by the Celestials, which has endowed them with extraordinary powers and unique abilities to save the universe in an emergency.

Out of all his abilities highlights the ability to manipulate matter at the atomic level, telepathy or the ability to levitate.

The Celestials, an alien race, sought with the creation of the Eternals the appearance of defenders of the Earth in the face of any vulnerability. The original creation in the comics dates back to issue # 1 of The Eternals in July 1976. Jack Kirby was the author of this cast (who left DC Comics to come to Marvel), now transferred to the audiovisual world by Chloé Zhao, who recently took over Nomadland.

In the film, according to the official synopsis, they have remained living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, but why did they not intervene to protect the planet from Thanos’ plans and his snap? It is confirmed that the film will take place after the events narrated in Avengers: Endgame.
