In 2014, when Outlander It was premiered by Starz Play and the success was immediate, but once it became part of the Netflix catalog it managed to expand throughout the world and, therefore, is currently one of the series most chosen by users. However, it will not be until next year when the faithful followers of this fiction, based on the novels of Diana Gabaldón, can enjoy new episodes with a season six.

This is because the pandemic delayed the timing of the production of Outlander and it was in February of this year when the cast was able to return to the set to work on the next chapters of this story. But, more than a month ago, through the official social networks of the series, it was announced that the filming ended and, therefore, all the protagonists are on vacation before diving back into the recordings of season seven.

The Starz Play photo that confirmed the end of filming for season six.

So much so that, in the middle of the wait, the fans of the strip follow every step taken by the cast members, but especially its protagonists: Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. It is for this same reason that many of them expected to see them on September 19 at the seventy-third edition of the Emmy Awards, which will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.

However, this is not something that could happen since, this Tuesday, July 13, when the list of Emmy nominees was known, not only was it missing Men in Kilts, Heughan’s show with McTavish, but instead Outlander it was also conspicuous by its absence in all the triads. And, despite the fact that the Scottish actor was angry for not being nominated with the tourist program, with the fiction that he stars in, he understood the reasons very well.

As explained by the specialized site Cartermatt, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has a specific calendar to consider what type of shows can be nominated. In general, those in charge of choosing those who deserve an award, focus on premieres that happened between June 1 of the previous year and May 31 of the following year. That is, only those productions that premiered between June 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021 entered this ceremony.

So like season five of Outlander aired on its original network, Starz Play, in May 2020, it did not enter the content considered by The Academy. But, This could change next year if, indeed, the sixth edition opens in early 2022 as planned.
