Interpreted by Florence Pugh, this young woman first appeared in Black Widow, also released this year. Her character – who quickly conquered the fans – is none other than the sister of Natasha Romanoff, the iconic role that for a few years personified Scarlett Johansson. The post-credits scene of this film left much to develop about its history and this was taken up again in the last show of Kevin Feige’s company.
After his sister passed away following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the new Black Widow seeks revenge and her main objective is to end the life of Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), the protagonist of this story. In this way, with a cameo in the fourth episode and an extensive scene in the fifth chapter, the character reappeared to explain what was his end in New York City.
Aside from his heavy Russian accent, there was something that caught the attention of the subscribers of Disney+. Is that Yelena constantly referred to the rest of the characters using their full name repeatedly. Kate Bishop, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff were even mentioned with their last names. It is not a coincidence! It is that in addition to showing how much you know about the identity of each of them, it’s a russian custom.
There, the names are made up of three parts: name, patronymic name and surname. Speaking only by mentioning the first name is automatically a sign of familiarity and a casual manner. For Yelena Belova, her goal is far from being: by having a dialogue, she wants to show formality and make it clear that she is a professional who came to fulfill your mission. You’ll make it?
