BOSTON (AP) — Tension has boiled over among the members of Jane’s Addiction during their ongoing reunion tour, according to Etty Lau Farrell, wife of lead singer Perry Farrell. A physical altercation occurred at a recent concert in Boston, highlighting the mounting difficulties the band has been facing.

Jane’s Addiction, celebrated for their influential hits like “Been Caught Stealing” and “Mountain Song,” rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, becoming a significant part of the alternative rock and grunge music scenes.

Footage shared on social media from Friday night’s performance captures a moment where Perry Farrell, 65, passionately engages with the audience before lunging at guitarist Dave Navarro. Farrell appears to shove Navarro with his shoulder and then takes a swing at him with his right arm. In response, Navarro extends his arm to create distance, while stagehands intervene and pull Farrell away. This confrontation marked the premature end of the concert.

Etty Lau Farrell elaborated on the incident in a recent Instagram update, stating that Perry’s frustration had been escalating for several nights leading up to this event. She noted that her husband felt overwhelmed by the loud volume on stage, which he believed was overpowering his voice.

According to her, Perry had been experiencing issues with tinnitus and a sore throat. As a result, by the end of the song, instead of singing, he was forced to scream just to be heard over the music. Etty expressed her concern, revealing that Perry was emotionally affected by the situation, ultimately breaking down in tears after the performance.

Jane’s Addiction kicked off their “Imminent Redemption” tour in early August. The trek consists of several dates, with 15 still remaining, including a forthcoming performance in Connecticut scheduled for Sunday night.

As for the future of the tour, the band has yet to release any official statements regarding the incident or the implications it may have for the remaining shows.
