Warner Bros. announced the cast for the upcoming Willy Wonka remake. While the name of the movie was “Wonka”, the shooting process of the project was also started.
Timothee Chalamet will star as Willy Wonka in the movie. Mrs. Bean himself, Rowan Atkinson will join, and the two will be joined by Keegan Michael-Key. Other players announced Jim Carter, Mathew Baynton, Olivia Colman, Tom Davis, Simon Farnaby, Rich Fulcher, Sally Hawkins, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Paterson Joseph, Calah Lane, Matt Lucas, Colin O’Brien, Natasha Rothwell, Rakhee Thakrar ve Ellie White.
The names in the Wonka team are generally related to Paddington. Davis, Farnaby, Hawkins, Lucas, Holdbrook-Smith have all appeared in Paddington films at least once.
Paddington connections are of course also available behind the scenes. Paddington director Paul King also directs Wonka. The movie will be about the period before Willy Wonka opens the famous chocolate factory that we know from the big screen (or books as MRT Turkey team knows it). King co-wrote the script for the film with Farnaby; who was also the co-author of Paddington 2. The movie is expected to be released on March 17, 2023.
As many of you know, Chalamet also takes the lead role in the movie Dune, which we will be watching shortly.
