World coffee exports beans fell 8.8% year-on-year in July to 9.04 million 60kg bags, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) said on Tuesday. in English).
The decline meant that total green coffee exports in the first 10 months of the campaign to July 2022 were 98.08 million bags, down from 98.97 in the same period the previous year.
In regional terms, South American exports of all types of coffee decreased by 8.5% in the 10 months to July 2022. Exports from Mexico and Central America sank 16.2% and those from Africa plummeted 13.1%
In contrast, exports from Asia and Oceania increased by 4%.
The ICO kept its estimate of a 3.1 million bag shortfall in the global supply balance unchanged in 2021/22, seeing total production at 167.2 million bags and consumption at 170.3 million.
