Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said they have no time to mourn Wednesday’s Champions League draw with Inter Milan (3-3) as their focus must be on the next classic against his archenemy, Real Madrid.
Barcelona started strongly against Inter but defensive errors saw them lose 3-2 in the closing minutes before Robert Lewandowski equalized in stoppage time.
“The game was under control. The second half was made up of punctual errors. The failure of the first goal makes us fall apart mentally, the second goal cannot happen in the elite”, Xavi told the press.
“It’s these mistakes. With what it cost to go 1-0 and open the can… mistakes are expensive. In LaLiga maybe not so much, but in the Champions League they don’t forgive.”
“We have to continue and think about the Classic, recover well. We have to think about LaLiga, because the Champions League has become difficult and complicated,” he added.
Barça leads LaLiga on goal difference ahead of Madrid, with both teams on 22 points. Both meet on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
