Justice League producer Charles Roven thinks a return to DC movies might be possible for Christopher Nolan or Zack Snyder one day

According to the producer of the League of Justice Y Suicide squad, Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan could return to direct new films in the DC universe. Roven has been producing DC Comics film since Batman Begins 2005. Now, even with all the changes that have taken place in DC’s landscape in recent years, it remains a fixture of their behind-the-scenes productions and is even a creative force behind the recently released DC project by James Gunn, Suicide squad.

Snyder and Nolan have the distinction of having guided the big screen DC universe at various points. Nolan indisputably redefined the superhero genre with Batman Begins from 2005, The dark knight from 2008 and The Dark Knight Rises 2012, and then returned to a producer role when Snyder was chosen to direct The man of steel 2013. Snyder’s tenure as director in the DCEU was more complicated than Nolan’s, dealing with criticism and poor box office performance from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016, and a movie from the League of Justice Not without controversy after leaving production due to a family tragedy and being replaced by Joss Whedon, the result of which was disappointing and the return of Snyder to present his 4-hour version of the film that was released earlier this year on HBO Max.

The Trinity in 'Batman v Superman'

At this point, many fans assume that Snyder and Nolan have largely drifted away from DC projects. However, Charles Roven in an interview with THR clarifies that the doors in Hollywood never really close.

“I’m going to give you a quote from Terry Gilliam. Terry Gilliam and my first wife [la fallecida ejecutiva del estudio Dawn Steel] they fought bitterly for the court of Baron Munchausen. And he was sure that he would never, ever be involved in anything to do with Dawn Steel. And then I offered him Twelve Monkeys and he laughed and said, “Well, you really can’t burn a bridge in Hollywood, can you?” The fact of the matter is that I would never say never about anything when it comes to entertainment, different ideas, ways to get back. “.

Nolan and Snyder have unique cinematic styles that made their respective DC work stand out. Nolan’s version of Batman took a real-world approach to the character and attempted to land Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne in a world reminiscent of post-9/11 America. By contrast, Snyder’s time in DC began with a somewhat grounded, Nolan-style version of Superman in The man of steel, but eventually, it got a lot more bombastic and closer to the comics with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the eventual release of Zack Snyder, League of Justice. Given how unique each of their focuses is, a comeback for either filmmaker would be interesting. In fact, the producer was asked about the sequel to the League of Justice and said it was not ruled out:

“… But I still have an affiliation with a few more Suicide Squads, which excites me. I hope James, when he has some time, will go back and see if he’s going to do another one of these, because he did an amazing job. It would definitely be part of that. Probably another Justice League, although I think there are several years to go. “.

In the coming years, the DCEU will expand with more heroes. Ever since Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash joined in the first Justice League, characters like Shazam! and the Birds of Prey have joined the DCEU with Static Shock, Blue Beetle, Supergirl, Batgirl y Zatanna, as projects in development for the next few years. Katana Suicide squad tends to have ties to the various heroes of DC, and Black Adam will feature an incarnation of the JSA that includes members who have been part of the League of Justice like Dr. Fate and Hawkman, who could easily intersect with other movies. With these heroes already introduced to DC, a Justice league 2 could unite a new group of heroes that could generate excitement in the audience and more ingredients for the mix in an eventual return of Zack Snyder.
