” came to , Sky Cinema and Now TV, in the United States and the United Kingdom respectively, and left many questions about its ending. The climax of the Snyder Cut is different from the theatrical cut of 2017 in some respects, and given its structure, fans may feel confused about what is happening and how the film closes.

Zack Synder’s did a lot of things to correct the theatrical version of the film, and one of those things was to give fans a fresh look at the future of Knightmare. This future is a timeline in which Darkseid manages to control Superman through the Anti-Life Equation and destroys the earth.

This can be a bit confusing for DCEU fans, but there are several key things to keep in mind in the future of that help to paint a more complete picture of how it would have looked and although for many some of the things that happened in that future were well received, for others it was totally impossible that that could happen.

Since the control of Superman by Darkseid, the death of Lois Lane, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, added to the alliance between the Joker and Batman himself, give a totally different reality to what it really is “” at the moment. This is the detail of each of the events in that future of Knightmare.

Darkseid has managed to take control of Superman in this future and it is part of the reason why the earth has become what it has. Through the Anti-Life Equation, Darkseid controls Superman and if there is one thing fans know about Superman, it is that he is a difficult person to oppose. Anyone who tries to go against their will is quickly defeated. However, there is a reason why. He lost the love of his life, which made him vulnerable to Darkseid.

9. LOIS LANE DIES

The motive for Lois Lane's death is unknown. (Photo: Twitter)

In this version of the future, Lois Lane died, which is why Superman became vulnerable to corruption. When he doesn’t have Lois Lane, he’s a very dangerous person. However, there is more to this. Not only did Lois Lane die, but her death could have been prevented if Batman had sprung into action.

8. BATMAN WAS THE ONE WHO CAUSED IT

With that in mind, it stands to reason that Batman is one of the main reasons this future has become what it is, as he was able to stop it at one point. Exactly what happened to Lois Lane is currently unknown, but she was somehow killed by Darkseid and Batman could have somehow stopped this. However, she was one of the many characters who died in this future.

7. BATMAN WAS THE ONE WHO SUSTAINED HARLEY QUINN WHILE HE DIED

Although Harley Quinn was dying in Batman's arms, her wish was for the Joker to die slowly. (Photo: DC comics)

Like Lois Lane, it’s not exactly clear what happened to Harley Quinn. She was assassinated and died in Batman’s arms, but it is unclear which side she was on during the war with Darkseid. However, Batman told Joker that his last request was for the Joker to slowly die. Was he the cause of her death, or had things just deteriorated between the two of them as time passed? It’s something we may never know.

6. AQUAMAN MUERE

The war with Darkseid clearly caused an irreparable amount of carnage. One of the victims of this is the King of Atlantis himself, Aquaman. He likely died in an attempt to stop Superman, as there are very few others who can stand up to Arthur. However, whoever did it didn’t stop there, as another member of the “Justice League” also died.

5. WONDER WOMAN ALSO DIES

Wonder Woman's death is also unclear in this future but most likely she has died at the hands of Superman. (Photo: DC Comics)

The comics have shown that if there is anyone who matches Superman in power, it is Wonder Woman. She defeated him in battle a few times, although he also managed to defeat her in the past. Clearly, he won this battle in the future of Knightmare.

The details surrounding Wonder Woman’s death in Knightmare’s future are hazy, as are many others. However, if there’s one thing fans know, it’s that Diana never stops fighting for justice. It is likely that he refused to budge until the last second.

4. FLASH TRIED TO STOP IT

Flash went back to the past to prevent the events from happening in that future but to no avail (Photo: DC comics)

It was shown in Batman V. Superman that Flash traveled back in time to try to prevent this future from happening. While he overstepped his time travel and ended up turning to Bruce before the “Justice League” was formed, the warning was not ignored. Bruce took note of this and formed the League. It is possible that because of this, the future of Knightmare has never been realized. Or, perhaps, it was in vain.

3. BATMAN AND THE JOKER WORKING TOGETHER

When Joker and Batman work together it is because there are generally no other options. (Photo: DC Comics)

Batman no longer has allies by the time viewers see Knightmare’s future. Travel with interesting people, including the Joker himself. As his biggest villain, fans know that Joker and Batman working together means there are simply no other options. However, his group has a few other additions that are a bit unexpected as well.

2. THE JUSTICE LEAGUE IS VERY DIFFERENT

Mera and Deathstroke would be the ones who were on the side of Batman in the new "Justice League"

While Flash and Cyborg are still alive in this timeline, the group Batman is working with is completed by Mera and Deathstroke. They are both incredibly strong, so traveling with them makes sense. Mera wants revenge for Aquaman, and any fight with Deathstroke is obviously not important when Darkseid is always on the prowl.

1. DARKSEID WON

Darkseid could have won and achieved his goal of transforming the world (Photo: HBO Max)

The most important conclusion of the future of Knightmare is that Darkseid won. “The Justice League” managed to stop their takeover once, but finally broke through. Even without the Mother Boxes, Darkseid took over and terraformed the world. Wonder Woman and Aquaman died in the conflict, and Superman is on the side of evil. Basically, things couldn’t be worse. It is unlikely that there will be anything that will save this future. Instead, humanity’s best hope is to avoid this timeline in general. The never-occur timeline is the only way to ensure that the Earth remains safe.
