The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time es one of the most important titles in video game history in general, and Nintendo 64 in particular. The community of modders is especially fond of this work, especially since ten years have passed since the remake published on Nintendo 3DS. If we will ever have a remake for current consoles is anyone’s guess; meanwhile, indie developer OLEG D has posted a video showing a recreation of the myth in high definition using Unreal Engine 5.

The video is quite clear: it is not a remake of the Deku Tree, but a reliable recreation of said site respecting the artistic style of the authors, reusing even the original assets of Nintendo 64. That has not prevented the result, a mix between retro and new, from being fantastic, vibrant and very current on a visual level. New effects are added, shadows, the textures are much more detailed … but everything remains in its place.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, almost 23 years of legacy
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time It was originally released on November 21, 1998. Its impact, influence and significance on Nintendo and the rest of the industry were immediate. The work of Eiji Aonuma, Yoshiaki Koizumi, Shigeru Miyamoto and the rest of the Nintendo EAD team signed a legendary work; spiced up by the equally recognizable Koji Kondo soundtrack.
For those who are interested in getting Ocarina of Time and enjoying it again (or for the first time), there are several options. On the one hand, the most classic and less accessible today, such as the original Nintendo 64 cartridge or the edition Master Quest de The Legend of Zelda para GameCube.
On the other hand, the Virtual Console of Wii U, which is one of the most comfortable if you want to enjoy the adventure on television or from the Wii U Gamepad; and Nintendo 3DS, where its remake is located. It is this version that looks the best graphically, with quality of life details that significantly improved the experience thanks to the use of the touch screen and, of course, the official translation into Spanish.
We do not know if Nintendo plans a reissue or remastering for Nintendo Switch, no matter how much fans demand it and we are on the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.
