10 Unforgettable Moments of Tony Iommi

This week, we’re spotlighting 10 unforgettable moments from Tony Iommi, one of heavy metal’s most renowned guitarists.

We’ve previously compiled videos on beloved rock and metal artists like Led Zeppelin, Blink-182, and Pantera, but this time, the focus is purely on Iommi. As a pivotal figure in Black Sabbath, Iommi is often hailed as one of the architects of heavy metal, especially noted for his iconic use of the “Devil’s Interval” tritone in the song “Black Sabbath” from their debut album.

In our latest compilation, we’ve gathered some of Iommi’s most memorable moments and crafted them into a single video for your enjoyment.

Included in the video are Iommi’s remarks on the band Coven. Coven released their album Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls in 1969, which opened with a track named “Black Sabbath.” You’ll also hear about how a life-changing accident at a factory job led to the loss of Iommi’s fingertips, forcing him to develop a unique playing style that many argue helped shape the sound of metal as we know it. Without this incident, it’s possible that the genre would have evolved quite differently.

In another clip, Iommi explains the backstory behind the naming of Black Sabbath’s second album. Initially intended to be called War Pigs, it was eventually released as Paranoid due to external pressures.

For those eager to dive deep into these moments, the full video is available below.
