11 Unexpected Facts About HGTV’s Star

In 1988, New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) were slated to be the opening act for Tiffany, the single-named pop star who burst onto the scene at age 15 with her 1987 hit “I Think We’re Alone Now.” As the tour progressed, NKOTB’s popularity skyrocketed; by the end of the tour, it was Tiffany who found herself opening for the boy band.

While on tour, NKOTB’s Jonathan Knight developed a close friendship with Tiffany. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tiffany reminisced about their time together. “I was just so excited to have somebody my age on the road,” she shared, recalling the pizzas they would share after performances. “Jon and I became really good friends, and then, of course, we became boyfriend and girlfriend,” she added. Knight mentioned that they bonded over the shared experience of sudden fame during their teenage years. “It was nice to relate to somebody who was in the same boat,” he said. “We were both experiencing the same things, and I had never had anyone besides the guys experience those things with me. She helped ground me and it was a good escape from the rigors of touring.”

Their relationship lasted about two years but eventually ended as Knight came to terms with his sexuality, realizing that he was gay. While this realization brought him personal happiness, ending the relationship was challenging. “I really felt like I was betraying her, so that was hard and caused a lot of guilt,” he added.
