5 Hulu Shows Canceled in 2024

TV cancellations are often tough for fans, and Hulu is no exception. The streaming service has already decided to cut several shows this year. While Hulu’s list is not as extensive as some other platforms, each cancellation still leaves a sting. Here’s a look at the shows Hulu has decided to cancel in 2024.

Hulu has dropped at least four shows since January, with another preparing to end after its upcoming final season. Unfortunately, many of these shows were canceled after just one season, giving them little time to find an audience. While there’s always hope that another network might pick them up, for now, these shows have met their end on Hulu.

One of the first shows to be axed this year was “Death and Other Details.” Hulu canceled this mystery drama in March after just one season. The series had a notable ensemble cast, including Violett Beane, Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, and Mandy Patinkin. Set on a luxury cruise liner involving a locked-room murder mystery, the series premiered in January but was swiftly canceled less than a month after its finale.

Another show that met its end was “The D’Amelio Show.” Despite the ongoing popularity of the Kardashians, the influencer family—Heidi, Marc, Charli, and Dixie D’Amelio—could not capture the same magic. Hulu decided to cancel the reality series in June after its third season, which premiered last September. Fans will still have the option to follow the D’Amelio family on social media, but the show won’t be returning to Hulu.

“The Other Black Girl” is another casualty of Hulu’s 2024 cancellations. This show was cut short after just one season, which aired last September. The comedy-horror series starred Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young, and Eric McCormack. It followed an editorial assistant who experiences strange occurrences after another Black woman is hired at her company. Despite its unique storyline, Hulu canceled the series in May.

“This Fool,” which premiered in 2022, was another show Hulu decided to end. The sitcom revolved around a 30-year-old living with his mother and grandmother while working at a gang rehabilitation center in Los Angeles. Starring Chris Estrada, Frankie Quinones, Michael Imperioli, Michelle Ortiz, Laura Patalano, Julia Vera, Fabian Alomar, and Sandra Hernandez, the show received a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, Hulu announced its cancellation in February after two seasons.

Finally, while not an outright cancellation, “The Handmaid’s Tale” will also be concluding soon. The series was renewed for a sixth and final season back in 2022, initially planned to air this year. However, production was delayed due to strikes, with filming expected to start soon. Though it’s not ending in 2024, the beloved dystopian series is heading towards its final chapter.

On a brighter note, Hulu did renew one show for 2024. As part of FX on Hulu, the Emmy-winning series “The Bear” has been renewed for a fourth season ahead of the third season’s premiere in June. Filmed back-to-back with the third season, fans can likely expect to see Season 4 sooner rather than later.
