Kirby’s character, also known as the White Widow, shares a quick kiss with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt by a scenic Parisian riverbank in a standout moment.

Reflecting on this kiss during an interview with Culture Trip, Kirby revealed she had some initial concerns about it from a character perspective. She explained that Alanna wouldn’t act without a motive, so she had to understand why her character would kiss Ethan. “He’s pretending to be somebody else,” she said. “She senses that and she’s not really going to let him get away with it, so it was fun. The first few kisses I really went for it, was quite worried it was too aggressive, but in the end it made sense, really, that it wasn’t too sensual.”

Although Kirby didn’t think the kiss was overly intense, it still caught the attention of the media. Paparazzi snapped photos of the pair during the scene, and rumors quickly spread that Kirby and Cruise had started dating. Kirby found it almost unbelievable that she had to deny these rumors.
