Adam Sandler Confirms Travis Kelce in ‘Happy Gilmore’ Sequel on ‘Tonight Show’

Adam Sandler appeared Tuesday night on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and spoke about “Happy Gilmore 2,” the upcoming Netflix sequel to his 1996 hit comedy film about a hockey player-turned-golfer.

Sandler revealed that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, a former University of Cincinnati Bearcats standout, will have a role in the new movie.

“This is happening,” Sandler said of the sequel. “We’re getting ready to shoot it in New Jersey. … And we start in a couple weeks. It’s good. It’s good. Like we worked hard on this script. Man, we didn’t want to let anybody down. People have been asking me for a long time, ‘Do Happy Gilmore 2.’ And I was always like, ‘Nah. I would only let you down.’ But me and my buddy Tim Herlihy, we came up with the idea we’re really excited about it. We wrote our asses off. We’re continuing to try to make it a movie that you guys would like. And we’re excited. So many golfers are being nice and they’re gonna be a part of it. Gonna be a lot of cameos.”

“You know Travis Kelce wants to be part of it?” Fallon responded.

“Oh yeah. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Travis has been – he mentioned it and so we have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by. And he’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big handsome guy. … Cool as hell. He’s a stud. And he’s so funny.”

Sandler also said he fell when he first tried to recreate the trademark Happy Gilmore “hop, skip and a hit” approach to the shot.
