Adam Sandler Shares Fashion Must-Haves: ‘Nice Socks’

Adam Sandler continues to be an accidental fashion icon.

During a recent interview with social media creator Ajay Porter for a Mystery Fashionist TikTok clip, Sandler, 57, talked fans through his outfit after introducing himself as “Adam” from “Brooklyn.”

The Happy Gilmore star donned a Fila zip-up sweater over a casual T-shirt that day, which he teamed with a pair of blue tie-dye shorts and green and blue mismatched sneakers.

Sandler, known for his laid-back “Sandlercore” style, explained his ensemble of choice. “It just happens, I didn’t really think it through. There’s sneakers, there’s some goofy shorts,” he joked, adding that he wore his sweater to cover his stomach.

“Whatever is in the closet I grab it,” he insisted. “I think I got a bunch of the same socks, underwear is kinda similar too.”

He continued, “I grab it, I don’t think about it much. Most people make fun of me in my family, but I keep moving.”

When asked which five fashion pieces he “cannot live without,” Sandler mentioned “nice socks” that his wife Jackie Sandler bought him with his “kids on and stuff,” alongside “goofy shirts” and sneakers.

“Sneakers that fit,” the comedian emphasized, adding, “It don’t matter if they’re dirty or not, as long as they’re fitting and not hurting.”

He also mentioned he’d worn his sweater because he got it “like five years ago” and “forgot about that thing,” going on to note that his shorts that day were “shorter than usual.”

Sandler wrapped up the chat by joking about some common misconceptions. “People don’t realize I’m 6 [foot] 5,” he said.

Sandler’s latest style comments come after he spoke to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the New York City premiere of his new standup special Love You.

While responding to the Gen Z fashion trend inspired by his laid-back look, Sandler said, “You know, this is an accidental thing… but here I am wearing goofy clothes, and I don’t know. I don’t think about it.”

The Grown Ups actor also learned that the trend has been dubbed “Madam Sandler,” with people teaming his trademark long, baggy shorts with a crop top.

“Crop top, I used to wear when I was young,” he said. “I used to wear the half shirt. Now, it would not be great for anybody, but I get it. Comfortable. That sounds like a good outfit.”
