When Netflix confirmed the production of Happy Gilmore 2 back in May, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made it very clear that he’d love to play any role possible.
“I’ll be a [expletive] extra … anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set — count me in,” Kelce said on he and his brother Jason’s “New Heights” podcast. “I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be part of it any way I possibly can.”
Adam Sandler is making that dream come true for Kelce, who is dipping his toes into the acting world in the latter stages of his NFL career.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sandler confirmed Kelce will make an appearance in the film.
Kelce obviously has a great deal of respect and admiration for Sandler. And it appears that feeling is mutual.
“He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life,” Sandler said. “What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Sandler said production of Happy Gilmore 2 will begin “in a couple weeks.”
“We worked hard on the script, man,” Sandler added. “We didn’t want to let anybody down. People have been asking me for a long time, ‘Do Happy Gilmore 2,’ and I was always like, ‘Nah, I’ll only let you down.’”

Kelce and the Chiefs will kick off the 2024 NFL season with a Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.
