Adele Announces Lengthy Hiatus: “I Will Not See You for a Long Time”

Adele will soon bid farewell to the stage, at least for the foreseeable future.

The British singer revealed she will take a hiatus from performing after her Las Vegas residency ends in November. During the closing night of her monthlong residency in Munich, Germany, Adele informed her fans that she has “10 shows to do” in Las Vegas, according to Entertainment Weekly. Her Las Vegas stint caps off years of performing songs from her album “30” and others. She told her fans, “But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. And I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.”

Adele elaborated, “I’m not the most comfortable performer. I know that, but I am very comfortably good at it, and I really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done, and probably the longest I would ever do.”

Her Munich residency was initially planned to precede her Las Vegas shows, but Adele had to delay her Vegas dates after falling ill for several months. The Las Vegas residency began in November 2022 and spanned over 100 live shows.

“I just need a rest,” the singer said, nearly in tears. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now . . . I will remember these shows for eternity because they have been spectacular.”
