Agatha All Along Trailer Confirms Suspicions About Scarlet Witch

No one stays dead in the comics, and Wanda’s immense popularity in the MCU makes it unlikely she’ll be gone forever. However, the narrative arcs in “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” have left the original MCU version of Wanda with so many burnt bridges that her permanent departure might be a convenient storytelling path. Any future storyline involving her would likely be overshadowed by the fact that the U.S. government, Kamar-Taj, and others now see her as an unstable weapon of mass destruction.

Fortunately, the MCU has already unveiled a backup Wanda in the form of the Earth-838 version of the character. This Wanda is the one whose children the Scarlet Witch pursues and who ends up killing the Illuminati due to mind control from her alternate-universe counterpart. Fans are already acquainted with this Wanda and her sons Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne). Given the chaos in their home timeline owing to the Illuminati incident, Earth-838 Wanda could serve as a natural replacement for the Wanda who perished at Mount Wundagore.

Whether the MCU will take this route remains to be seen, but it would certainly offer an easy solution for the Avengers if they need a Wanda who isn’t constantly evading authorities and survivors from Kamar-Taj. Introducing Earth-838 Wanda to the primary timeline would be intriguing, especially in light of Marvel rumors suggesting Paul Bettany’s return as Vision. This current, all-white version of Vision retains his old memories but still has much soul-searching ahead. Meeting a Wanda from an entirely different universe could add an interesting twist to their relationship dynamic.
