Akbar V Defends Her Belief That God Didn’t Make August Alsina Love Men

Akbar V has found herself at the center of controversy following her outspoken remarks against August Alsina’s claim that divine intervention led him to be open to “loving men.”

The 34-year-old Atlanta rapper and Love and Hip Hop star did not agree with Alsina’s recent spiritual revelation. She argued that if God told Alsina to love the same sex, it would essentially make God “a liar” since the Bible considers same-sex relationships a “sin.”

“Y’all so mad… Why y’all so mad? Y’all mad because I spoke truth,” Akbar said in an Instagram video, where she also posted a religious quote expressing her stance.

“Many Christian influencers are afraid to speak the truth and call out deception. I’ve chosen not to be one of them. Their content holds no weight. God gave me a platform to represent Him, not to build myself,” she elaborated in a lengthy post.

Akbar continued, “I see confusion among Christians with influence who have millions of followers but say nothing of substance. They fear losing opportunities if they speak the truth. That’s the cost of following Jesus. No opportunity is worth risking my relationship with God. I’ve counted the cost. The rise of faithful influencers is coming, and the downfall of cowards with a platform is near.”

Akbar’s reaction was in response to Alsina’s latest interview on the Counsel Culture Show. During the interview, Alsina expressed gratitude to God for exposing him to various types of people and experiences, which opened his heart to loving men.

“It’s not even me that’s opening my heart. It’s that power that’s higher than myself,” Alsina explained to Nick Cannon and other co-hosts who inquired about his sexual orientation. “I always say that the greatest gift God could ever give me was exposure—to expose me to so many different kinds of people, places, and things. When people want you to define yourself [in terms of sexuality], love is much more complex than that.”

Alsina’s comments, which went viral, prompted Akbar V to publicly disagree with his remarks.

“Jesus ain’t did nun like this y’all play with God too much… He gives us a choice… How did God do this and he says it’s a sin? So does that mean God is a liar?” she commented on a repost of the interview clip. “Kids, don’t believe this. God don’t do this… His word don’t come back void… If He says don’t do this and someone says He told him to do this, that means you’re calling God a liar, and God is not a liar… Now, I’m not the one to judge ’cause we all fall short of His glory, but don’t put God in your worldly foolishness.”

Akbar also posted on her Instagram Story, “Nick Cannon’s face said a million words without saying it… and this is not to down August Alsina. I’m not against my brother; I’m basically saying God hasn’t told him that because God doesn’t like sin… and if we are sinning, God is not a God who promotes sin then tells us not to sin… I am praying for my brother and hope one day he finds the truth about the true living God.”

Akbar’s views ignited a heated discussion in her comments section, where she faced both support and criticism. Some accused her of hypocrisy, citing her own involvement with the same-sex, which she admitted to on a recent episode of Zeus Network’s Aunt Tea’s Podcast.

Alsina appeared to respond to Akbar’s comments with a video promoting his unisex fragrance, claiming it repels negativity. “First off, I just want to say thank you to everybody on the support of our unisex fragrance. But this is an incredible fragrance, an evolutionary fragrance… a repellent to negative energy,” he said in the video.

He captioned the post, “M E S S A G E !! .. there’s a lot more that could be said, but I don’t want to interrupt the Grace of God over life that speaks the loudest. Stay well…”

So far, Alsina has not confirmed if a man named Zu is his romantic partner, but he previously credited him for teaching him “so much about love and healing.”
