A remarkable piece of Hollywood history has found a new owner: the original contract Al Pacino signed for his unforgettable role as Michael Corleone in “The Godfather Part II.”

The contract, dated May 12, 1972, ensured Pacino’s return as the notorious mob boss for the sequel. It stipulated a payment of $500,000 for his role—a substantial increase from the $35,000 he earned for the first film.

Pacino’s bold black ink signature is prominent on the document, which was prepared by Chal Productions and Francis Ford Coppola Productions.

More than fifty years after Pacino signed the deal and delivered an Oscar-nominated performance, the contract has made its way to the auction block. RR Auction confirmed that it was sold this week to the highest bidder for an impressive $31,344.

The identity of the buyer remains unknown for now, fittingly mysterious given the movie’s mafia themes. However, the individual now holds a significant piece of ‘Godfather’ franchise history.

Additionally, the contract guaranteed Pacino 10% of the film’s profits, ultimately earning him millions on the back end.

Indeed, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
