Alex Rodriguez Reacts to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Divorce News

Alex Rodriguez has seemed to react to the recent news of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s separation after two years of marriage.

“You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction,” read the message shared on the former Yankees player’s Instagram Story. While Rodriguez might have intended to merely offer some motivational words to his followers, fans suspect it was a subtle nod to the news of Lopez and Affleck’s divorce that broke on Tuesday, August 20.

Rodriguez and Lopez began dating in February 2017 and got engaged in 2019. However, their relationship ended in 2021. Speaking about his time with Lopez to Martha Stewart on her iHeartRadio podcast a year after their split, Rodriguez said, “With Jennifer, look, it was a good experience, and I wish her and the children—who are smart, and beautiful and wonderful—I wish them the very best.”

Since their breakup, Rodriguez has moved on and is now dating Jac Cordeiro, confirming their relationship in December 2022. The couple was recently spotted on vacation last month with his daughters.

On the other side, Lopez rekindled her relationship with Affleck after splitting with Rodriguez. The two were previously engaged back in 2004.

On Tuesday, August 20, Lopez filed for divorce at the L.A. County Superior Court, choosing to proceed without an attorney. This date would have marked their second wedding anniversary. Legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the couple’s separation date is cited as April 26, 2024.

According to sources from Entertainment Tonight, Lopez and Affleck waited to announce their split to ensure everything was in order. The source explained, “They are waiting to announce their official split, because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved. Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can.”

The source further added, “They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etcetera. They don’t want to make it feel like they’re pulling the rug from underneath their children. They’re making a mutual effort to ensure that this transition is as healthy and easy as possible.”

As of now, neither Lopez nor Affleck have publicly spoken about their separation.
