Allison Williams to Star in ‘Regretting You’ Adaptation by Colleen Hoover

Allison Williams (M3GAN) will star in Regretting You, an indie film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2019 novel, Deadline has confirmed.

Written by Susan McMartin and directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), the movie delves into the intricate bond between Morgan Grant and her daughter, Clara. Morgan becomes a mother in her youth, which forces her to put her aspirations on the back burner to raise Clara. As Clara hits her teenage years, tension escalates between them, especially after a devastating accident takes the life of Chris, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father.

This project comes from Constantin Film, with Robert Kulzer, Brunson Green, and Anna Todd on board as producers.

Allison Williams, known for her roles in the horror sensation M3GAN and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, also has upcoming projects including M3GAN 2.0 and Kill Me alongside Charlie Day.

Josh Boone, celebrated for directing the successful adaptation of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars—which grossed over $307 million globally—has other notable directorial credits such as Stuck in Love, The New Mutants, and Paramount+’s The Stand.

Currently in theaters, Sony’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel It Ends With Us is generating considerable buzz. Starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the film is projected to open in the $40 million range. The story follows Lily (Lively), who, after a traumatic childhood, starts anew. A chance encounter with a neurosurgeon sparks a deep connection, leading Lily to recognize troubling patterns reminiscent of her past family dynamics. Directed by Baldoni, the film also features Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj.

Colleen Hoover, best known for her work in romance and young adult fiction, has authored four book series and twelve standalone novels. Among her works, an adaptation of her 2018 novel Verity is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, produced by Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund.

Last year, Hoover was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world, cementing her status as a key figure in contemporary literature.
