Amal Clooney Dazzles in Mermaid-Inspired Gown at Venice Party

Amal Clooney made a stunning fashion statement at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, August 21, gracing the event in a custom mermaid-inspired gown by Bach Mai. The strapless gown featured a stone-colored bodice, transitioning into an exquisite ombre effect with shades of aqua and purple fringe cascading down the skirt.

The 46-year-old human rights lawyer was photographed arriving solo at a private Cartier party during the 81st Annual Venice International Film Festival. Pictures from the event, published by People, suggest her husband George Clooney was not in attendance.

Amal and George were earlier spotted arriving in Venice from their home in Lake Como. On Friday, Amal turned heads in a beautiful floaty lemon dress featuring a nipped-in waist, a plissé design, and a frothy tulle skirt, perfect for a summer evening. The couple had a relaxed outing following a cozy evening dining with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Observers couldn’t help but draw parallels between Amal’s look and the canary-yellow dress she wore to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.

George Clooney and Amal, who are the proud parents of seven-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, are regular attendees of the annual festival. This year, they are expected to walk the red carpet on Sunday, September 1, for George’s new film “Wolfs,” alongside his close friend Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt also arrived in the city on Saturday, accompanied by his girlfriend of two years, Ines de Ramon. The Hollywood powerhouses are set to share the limelight as they support each other’s work and enjoy the festivities.

George Clooney has often expressed his love for Italy, a country that holds a special place in their hearts. He shared with HELLO! in 2014, when he married Amal, why Italy means so much to them, revealing: “We met in Italy. We have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married.”

The couple exchanged vows at the Palazzo Ca’ Farsetti in September 2014. For the legal ceremony, Amal wore an ivory power suit with a contrasting navy trim. They later celebrated with a glittering reception at the Aman Canal Grande, Venice’s only seven-star hotel. Amal changed into a French lace Oscar de la Renta dress featuring a cathedral-length veil for the occasion.
