Amazon Prime Cancels ‘My Lady Jane’

Amazon Prime has decided not to proceed with a second season of the historical romantic fantasy drama My Lady Jane. The show made its debut on June 27, 2024, and featured Emily Bader in the lead role. It offered a reimagined account of Lady Jane Grey’s life, who famously ruled England for a brief nine days before her execution. The series, inspired by the book written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows, was set in sixteenth-century England, a unique society where humans coexisted with shape-shifters who could transform into animals or other people.

The ensemble cast of My Lady Jane included Edward Bluemel as Lord Guildford Dudley, Anna Chancellor as Lady Frances Grey, Rob Brydon as Lord Dudley, Jordan Peters as King Edward VI, Kate O’Flynn as Princess Mary, Abbie Hern as Princess Bess, Henry Ashton as Lord Stan Dudley, Dominic Cooper as Lord Seymour, and Jim Broadbent as the Duke of Leicester.

My Lady Jane was the brainchild of Gemma Burgess, who also took on the role of executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Meredith Glynn. Other executive producers included Jamie Babbit, Sarah Bradshaw, and Laurie MacDonald.

Altogether, eight episodes of My Lady Jane were produced.
