Amazon Prime’s New Series ‘Cross’ Announces Premiere Date

Amazon Prime fans who enjoy series like Bosch or Reacher have a new crime thriller to look forward to: Cross. The lead character, Alex Cross, is portrayed by Aldis Hodge.

This new series is adapted from the James Patterson novels. Here’s more information for fans eager to dive into this intriguing new show.

The storyline centers around Detective Alex Cross, who is also a forensic psychologist. According to People, Cross is “uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify – and ultimately capture – the murderers.”

The Amazon Prime series Cross draws from James Patterson’s extensive collection of novels. The first novel was released in 1993, and since then, the series has expanded to include 31 novels and two novellas. Patterson even wrote three books focusing on Alex’s son, Ali.

Notably, the 77-year-old author is an executive producer for the show, similar to Michael Connolly’s role with the Bosch series. This involvement often leads to great results for the streaming platform, and Patterson has expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

In an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Patterson mentioned that this adaptation is his favorite. He described it as edgier and more realistic about police work, saying, “I really like the way that turned out.”

The showrunner for Cross is Ben Watkins, known for his work on Burn Notice, one of the highest-rated detective thriller series. Given this strong foundation, it’s no surprise that Amazon has already renewed Cross for a second season.

The eight-episode first season of Cross will premiere on Thursday, November 14, on Amazon Prime. Details on when production for Season 2 will begin have yet to be announced.

In addition to the anticipated release, Hallmark fans will also find familiar faces in the cast. Kristin Booth from the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series will appear in at least one episode as Dr. Marla Daine. Another Hallmark favorite, Eloise Mumford, also stars in this new Amazon Prime series, portraying Shannon Witmer.

Fans of the Lifetime holiday movie Well Suited For Christmas will recognize Mercedes de la Zerda, who plays Detective Amielynn Vega.
