Apollo Nida, Phaedra Parks’ Ex-Husband, Arrested

The former reality star has been arrested for domestic violence.

Apollo Nida just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. The former husband of The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Phaedra Parks was famously sentenced to prison for eight years for financial fraud crimes in Season 6 of the Bravo series. During his incarceration, Parks filed for divorce. The former couple shares two children. While still in prison, Nida began dating his now-wife, Sherien Almufti. They dated for several years before marrying in 2022. The couple even appeared on VH1’s Couples’ Therapy to address their marital issues.

However, it seems therapy didn’t resolve their issues. This spring, Nida was arrested on a domestic violence-related charge after an argument with Almufti escalated.

According to a report from Page Six, police were called to the scene after Almufti had come home from a bar with friends, having consumed three alcoholic beverages. The couple was allegedly having a verbal altercation about infidelity accusations. During the argument, Nida reportedly showed Almufti a video of her kissing another man. He then allegedly pulled her by the hair and pushed her against a refrigerator, which led to a scuffle between the couple.

Almufti claims she ran outside to call for help before going back inside to retrieve her phone from the ground to contact the police. Nida left the scene afterward.

Almufti provided police with surveillance footage of the verbal altercation, but the video did not capture any physical altercation. Nida later returned home and confirmed most of the events described by Almufti, with the exception of the physical assault. He admitted to trying to take her phone during the argument, which led to the scuffle. He said that after she called for help outside, he gave her phone back.

The police report noted that Almufti had no physical marks indicating an altercation. Despite this, Nida was booked and charged with one misdemeanor count of simple battery – family violence. The charge accused him of “intentionally making physical contact of an insulting and provoking nature” with his wife by pulling her by the hair and pushing her.

Since the incident, Almufti has released a statement indicating that they are undergoing therapy and have moved on from the event.
