Apple Unveils New iPhones, Apple Watch, and AirPods in Live Launch Event

Apple has officially revealed the date for its upcoming event where it is set to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 16 and other exciting products.

Scheduled for 9 September at the company’s headquarters in California, the event will kick off at 10 AM local Pacific time, which translates to 6 PM in the UK.

The invitation hints at a theme named “It’s Glowtime,” featuring vibrant swirling colors that appear to reference Apple Intelligence, the company’s next-generation AI features. This dynamic visual is reminiscent of the colorful animations seen on the iPhone when activating these AI functionalities.

Aside from the iPhone 16, rumors suggest that Apple will also reveal an updated version of the Apple Watch and new AirPods during this event.

The iPhone 16 is expected to be offered in four variants: the standard version, the Pro, and a larger edition of each. While the overall design of the phones is anticipated to remain similar to their predecessors, the Pro models may feature larger displays. There is also speculation that the non-Pro devices could include the Action Button, a feature that is presently exclusive to the higher-end models.

The swirling colors featured in the invitation likely indicate that Apple Intelligence will be a key selling point for the new iPhone lineup. Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models have access to this AI capability, but it is expected that the full iPhone 16 series will support these advanced features, along with additional functionalities that may be introduced at the event.

This year marks a unique occurrence as the event will take place on a Monday, a first for Apple when launching an iPhone. Traditionally, most speculation pointed to a launch on the following day, 10 September.

One potential reason for Apple’s scheduling choice could be to sidestep a significant political event: the first TV debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, which is set to take place on Tuesday.

In recent years, Apple has established a reliable pattern of opening pre-orders for its new smartphone on the Friday following the event and launching them in stores a week later. Currently, there are no indications that this established timeline will be modified.

Following the event, Apple is expected to announce the rollout of its latest operating system, iOS 18. This update is set to introduce various new features, although it remains uncertain whether Apple Intelligence will be included, even for devices that are eligible.
