Ariel Winter’s Journey: From Childhood to Age 26 Transformation

As Ariel Winter’s career as a child actor progressed, she found herself being cast in progressively bigger projects, eventually landing a major role as a series regular on “Modern Family” at just 11 years old.

Winter played Alex for over a decade, allowing fans of the sitcom to witness her transformation from an awkward preadolescent into a stunning young woman. “It’s pretty insane that I’ve basically spent half of my life on the show,” Winter remarked during a 2020 appearance on “Good Morning America” to discuss the final season of “Modern Family.” She noted that playing a make-believe family on TV ultimately created what felt like a real family. “He is, in my mind, 100% my brother,” she said of her onscreen sibling Nolan Gould. “I love Nolan to pieces because we grew up together … just growing pains of being teenagers and kids and being so close in age, being able to relate to each other — and Rico [Rodriguez] — that’s been a beautiful thing for us,” she added.

“It’s brought a lot of opportunities and a lot of crazy things,” Winter told interviewer George Satsidis about how the show had elevated her status in Hollywood. “It’s now, like, I go in public, and people recognize me, and they want to take pictures with me, and they know my name.”
