“We’re asking for the bare minimum to get our home fixed,” they stated on the fundraising platform. They anticipate a struggle with their insurance company, claiming, “Insurance is going to fight us left and right.” Their efforts also extend to fixing Holmberg’s truck, which was damaged in the incident.

Holmberg recounted the terrifying moment, likening it to “a bomb going off.” He described how quickly it all happened, stating, “It comes smashing in, and just it’s there. It happened so quick. It was so explosive.”

Rivera shared the emotional aftermath, noting that the couple’s dogs were left “sore and scared” by the collision. Although no injuries were immediately apparent, she mentioned that a visit to the veterinarian is in their plans once they have the funds to cover the expense.

In a post on social media, Holmberg reflected on their close call, saying, “Me and my lady are lucky to be alive.” He expressed frustration over the circumstances, emphasizing the danger of drunk driving. “Some a**hole was drinking and driving,” he wrote, adding that the driver attempted to perform donuts before crashing into their home.

He also credited his truck with saving Rivera’s life by acting as a barrier. “If he didn’t hit my truck, he would’ve gone straight into her. Thank God that I parked it right there,” Holmberg stated, grateful for the fortunate outcome despite the chaos surrounding the incident.
