Armie Hammer Sells Truck Due to High Gas Costs, Begins Fresh Start in LA

Armie Hammer has shared that he’s beginning a “new life in Los Angeles” through a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday. In the video, he explains that he is selling his truck because it has become too expensive to fuel.

“I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now,” Hammer begins, standing at a CarMax in California. “This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself. I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time, and I have loved this truck intensely, taking it camping and across country multiple times on long road trips. … Since being back in L.A., I have put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it.”

Previously, Hammer was based in the Cayman Islands, where he took up a job as a timeshare salesman after facing ostracization in Hollywood due to sexual abuse allegations in 2021. The charges against him included rape, engaging in cannibalism fantasies, and coercing partners into BDSM scenarios. As a result, the actor, known for his roles in “The Social Network” and “Call Me by Your Name,” saw his professional life crumble. He was dropped from several projects, his publicist and agent severed ties with him, and he became the focus of an LAPD investigation. Hammer has denied the allegations, asserting that all relationships were consensual, and no criminal charges were filed against him.

In recent months, Hammer has found himself back in the public eye, appearing on various platforms like Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Tom Arnold’s “Painful Lessons” show, and “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Throughout his media presence, he has maintained that the allegations of sexual assault are unfounded. However, he admitted to other wrongful behaviors like cheating on his wife and using people to boost his self-esteem. Hammer described his “cancellation” from the entertainment industry as “liberating,” and revealed he has written a screenplay based on his life. He hopes to re-enter the world of filmmaking.

“Here’s to new beginnings,” Hammer concluded in the video. “It’s my birthday tomorrow. So, August 28 I will be starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”

He took a moment to reflect on the sentimental value of his truck, recalling memories like driving his newborn children home from the hospital. “Thank you very much,” he said, tapping the steering wheel. “You have got me a long way, and I appreciate it all. I hope that you take as good of care of the next person.”

Hammer mentioned that he has purchased a new, smaller hybrid car, expected to be far less costly to operate. “I just keep telling myself that parking is going to be easier and gas is going to be cheaper,” he added.
