Arsenal awaits scan results for Gabriel Jesus’ groin injury

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan to evaluate a groin injury, raising concerns that he may face an extended period on the sidelines.

Jesus was absent during Arsenal’s recent 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. His condition will be closely monitored as the team prepares for their upcoming match against Brighton on Saturday.

Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, provided insights about the injury during a news conference. “Unfortunately, during Thursday’s training session, just at the end, he felt something in his groin,” Arteta explained.

“We’ll need to assess him more thoroughly. We require an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury, but he was unavailable for the game. We need to evaluate whether it’s a long-term issue.”

“We should have the results by tomorrow or Monday, which will clarify if he will be out for days or weeks. Currently, we do not have any definite information.”

The results of Jesus’ scan are especially significant as they may influence whether striker Eddie Nketiah will be allowed to transfer to Nottingham Forest this month.

Reports suggest that Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal with Forest worth around £30 million, plus potential bonuses. However, when asked whether the situation with Jesus could affect Nketiah’s future at the club, Arteta stated, “At the moment, Eddie is our player. He’s very committed to us.”

“Despite the speculation, he’s here and wants to be with us. He was genuinely pleased with our win.”

Arsenal achieved a hard-earned victory at Villa Park with second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey, aided by an impressive save from goalkeeper David Raya, who denied Ollie Watkins a key opportunity.

Arteta praised his players, remarking, “When we needed to rely on specific individuals, we did, as exemplified by David’s incredible save.”

“The impact of our substitutions was substantial. As the team learns to navigate through various match situations, it becomes capable of winning in any environment. Tonight was a testament to that.”
