Ashley Biden Wears Sleek White Suit at DNC Night One

Ashley Biden brought sleek suiting to night one of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday. The daughter of President Joe Biden introduced him as the “OG girl dad” and gave a speech that brought the politician to tears.

Ashley Biden, a social worker and fashion designer, selected a white ensemble consisting of a fitted blazer with peak lapels and flared trousers. She accessorized with platform heels and gold jewelry including a statement ring and layered bracelets. A cobalt blue manicure — an obvious reference to the Democratic party’s signature hue — topped off her look.

Biden wore her brunette tresses straightened, while her makeup consisted of rosy blush and a mauve lip.

“Dad always told me that I was no better than anybody else, and nobody was better than me. He taught me that everyone deserves a fair shot and that we shouldn’t leave anyone behind. That’s what you learn from a fighter who has been underestimated his entire life,” she said.

“When I look at dad, I see grace, strength and humility,” she added. “I see one of the most consequential leaders ever in history.”

The former executive director at the Delaware Center for Justice also spoke about her late brother, Beau. The president’s eldest son died of brain cancer in 2015.

“After Beau passed, I got this tattoo on my wrist. It says, ‘courage, dear heart’ — a reminder to myself to keep going, to get back up, like my dad has always done,” she said. “He has taught me that a courageous heart is a miraculous thing. A courageous heart can heal a family. A courageous heart can heal a nation and maybe even the world.”

Ashley Biden is Joe and Jill Biden’s only child. The president has one son, Hunter, from his previous marriage to Neilia Biden, who died in a car crash in 1972 alongside the couple’s daughter, Amy. Joe and Jill married five years later in 1977.

In 2017, Ashley Biden launched the Livelihood Collection, an ethically produced line of hoodies. One hundred percent of the proceeds were donated to underserved communities in the Bidens’ home state of Delaware and in Washington, D.C. In 2020, Biden redesigned staff uniforms for the Hamilton Hotel, also located in D.C.
