Ashley Graham Revives Mob Wife Trend, Talks ‘Side Hustlers’ on ‘CBS Mornings’

Ashley Graham showcased one of fall’s most trending prints on Monday during her “CBS Mornings” appearance. Alongside Skims cofounder Emma Grede, she promoted the second season of their Roku reality competition series, “Side Hustlers.” The show, now out, offers female entrepreneurs a chance to build multimillion-dollar businesses.

Graham selected a long-sleeved leopard print midi dress, complementing it with cat-eye frames, hoop earrings, and gold open-toe heels. This choice highlighted the “mob wife” trend that has captivated social media and fashion runways earlier this year. Leading fashion houses such as Jil Sander, Acne Studios, and Michael Kors have all embraced this trend, bringing furry outerwear to their fall 2024 presentations. The viral look draws inspiration from iconic gangster girlfriends like Ginger McKenna from “Casino” and Adriana La Cerva of “The Sopranos.”

During their segment with hosts Tony Dokoupil, Gayle King, and Nate Burleson, Grede and Graham emphasized the significance of female entrepreneurship.

“Season one felt like such an inspiration to people starting their own businesses or considering it,” said Graham. “You see how many women are actually doing it, and it feels so empowering. It makes you think, ‘If she can do it, I can do it.’”

“We follow these entrepreneurs for weeks, really getting into the core of their businesses,” added Grede. “You get to understand their problems, their trials, and their tribulations. It genuinely shows the real ups and downs, helping a lot of people, including small business owners, gain valuable insights from the show.”

Grede, who is also the CEO of Khloe Kardashian’s apparel brand Good American, is named one of Forbes’ richest self-made women.

Later, the duo appeared on NBC’s “Today,” with Graham donning a purple smocked shift dress featuring a ruffled hemline. The Saint Tropez ambassador completed her look with maroon peep-toe heels.
